Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro
Tanzania’s panoramic view with its lush game
parks, its snow-peaked mountains, and its infinite
plains, teeming with animals, is reminiscent of a
lost Garden of Eden. Its spectacular landscape
conjures an image of Africa millions of years ago,
pristine and premordial. As such, this is one of
the finest game-viewing areas in Africa. Tanzania
also has something very unique - the snowy,
massive peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, a 19,342 foot
dormant volcano, rising dramatically from a flat.
plain. It is the world’s highest, free-standing
mountain. Anthropologists are equally impressed
with the uniqueness of Olduvai Gorge, the site
where the remains of the two million year-old man
was found by Drs. Louis and Mary Leakey.

Weather and Clothing
Tanzania lies so close to the Equator that there are
not large seasonal variations in the temperatures.

Comfortable shorts and shirts are acceptable while on safari. Pack a wind breaker for any early morning
or night game drives.

Traveling to Mount Kilimanjaro necessitates warm clothing. You will be climbing over 19,000 feet where the year-round weather is always below freezing.
