Egypt - The Classic Tour

DAY 1 – Depart
Board a plane in the U.S. bound for Cairo, Egypt.

DAY 2 – Arrive
Upon arrival in Cairo, Egypt, transfer to the hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day at leisure.

DAY 3 – Cairo
After breakfast an English speaking guide will be at the hotel for a full-day tour of Cairo. The tour includes: The Pyramids of Giza – including inside the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the Sphinx, the Papyrus Institute, the Egyptian Museum – including entering the Mummies Room, the Citadel and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. DAY 4 – Cairo / Aswan
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Aswan. Transfer from the airport to the pier and embark on a Nile River Cruise. (BB,L,D)

DAY 5 – Nile Cruise
Visit the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. View the Botanical Gardens, the Elephantine Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 – Nile Cruise
Visit Edfu, Kom Ombo, the Temple of Horus and the Temple shared by the two Gods Sobek and Haroeris. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 – Nile Cruise
See the Karnak and Luxor Temples, Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, Hatchepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon. (B,L,D)

DAY 8 – Nile Cruise / Luxor
After your breakfast, disembark from the cruise and transfer to the airport for a domestic flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure. (B)

Day 9 – Cairo
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Cairo Airport for the international flight back to the United States. (BB)

 

Egypt - The Grand Tour

DAY 1 – Depart
Board a plane in the United States bound for Cairo, Egypt.

DAY 2 – Arrive Cairo, Egypt
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel to check-in. The day is spent at your leisure.

DAY 3 – Cairo
After breakfast an English speaking guide will be at the hotel for a full-day tour of Cairo. You will see: Memphis, Sakkara, the Pyramids of Giza: which includes entering inside the great Pyramid of Cheops, the Sphinx, the Solar Boat Museum and the Papyrus Institute. (BB)

DAY 4 – Cairo
After breakfast meet your English speaking guide for another full-day touring. See the Egyptian Museum – visit and enter the Mummies Room, the Citadel, Mohammed Ali and Sultan Hassan Mosques, the Coptic Museum and the Churches, Ben-Ezra Synagogue (if desired) and the Khan El-Khalili Bazaars. (BB)

DAY 5 – Cairo / Abu Simbel / Aswan
After breakfast transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Abu Simbel. Upon arrival embark on a tour of the Abu Simbel area. After the tour transfer back to the airport for a flight to Aswan where an English speaking guide will meet you to start a half-day tour of Aswan including – the Temple of Philae (Isis Temple). After the tour transfer to the pier and embark on your cruise down the Nile. (B,D)

DAY 6 thru 8 – Nile Cruise
See the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, the Agha Khan Mausoleum, the Botanical Gardens and Elephantine Island. DAY 9 – Nile Cruise / Luxor
After breakfast disembark from the cruise and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Later embark on a half-day tour of Luxor with and English speaking guide visiting Dendarah and Abydos Temples. (B)

DAY 10 – Luxor / Cairo
After breakfast meet with an English speaking guide to start a full-day tour of the Nile West Bank: the Ramesseum Temple, the Tombs of Nobles, Habu City and Tutankhamoun Tomb. In the evening transfer to the Luxor Airport for a domestic flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo transfer to the hotel for check-in. (BB)

DAY 11 – Homeward Bound
After breakfast, transfer to Cairo’s Airport for your departure back to the U.S. (BB)

Weather and Clothing
The climate is very dry year round. During the winter months, temperatures are more comfortable by day but cool enough at night for a light weight jacket or sweater. Light weight cotton during the summer with more warmer cloths for winter and the evenings. Women should not wear revealing clothing in religious buildings.

Other Information
Of particular value are any type of jewelry with turquoise, copper, ivory and mother-of-pearl inlaid work. Old Coptic cloth and Muslim relics may also be found. Other popular purchases are paintings on papyrus and reproduction artifacts. Shopping hours are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday to Saturday – shops are closed on Sundays.
